What I’m Thankful For
As Thanksgiving approaches, we asked SOM students what is making them feel grateful this year.
Nicholas Agresti ’26, MBA
Studying at Yale SOM was once only a dream. Walking through Evans Hall now as a student, I am thankful every day to be a part of such an engaged and vibrant community. I have already met and learned from so many incredible new friends in my cohort, in the Consulting Club, and across other professional and social organizations at the school. Together, we’ve navigated challenges and celebrated wins across academics and recruiting. SOM truly represents a blend of camaraderie, intellect, and ambition, and I am so grateful to be a part of the family!
Kaan Ardic ’26, MBA
This year, I’m deeply grateful for the chance to return to school, where I’m surrounded by remarkable people with diverse backgrounds, inspiring career aspirations, and a warmth and kindness that make every interaction meaningful. Within my first week, I knew I’d build lasting friendships across my learning team, my cohort (Go Red!), and the entire SOM community. I'm especially thankful to my cohort for trusting me as their representative, allowing me to plan events that have fostered and strengthened these connections.
Blake Christensen ’26, MBA for Executives (EMBA)
When I reflect on my time at SOM and what I am grateful for, I think immediately of my incredible classmates in the EMBA program, who teach me so much and are quickly becoming my support system, brainstorming partners, and friends. I chose SOM because the people I interacted with here brought the diverse perspectives, collaborative spirit, and fresh insights I need to build the next steps of my career. My classmates have not disappointed, whether in rapid-fire class discussions, over coffee during breaks, throughout long dinner conversations (come join us!)—and, yes, even in the never-ending chat threads. You all are the transformative opportunity I was looking for. I am also particularly grateful for my wife, Liesel, who went right from completing cancer treatment into actively supporting my “Don’t worry, I’m only looking at EMBAs” phase…knowing all along we would end up diving right in. Cheers to chemo curls!

The collaborative learning environment is one of the most rewarding aspects of being at SOM. I've had the privilege of working with peers who bring knowledge, creativity, and empathy to every project. From spirited discussions during case studies to teamwork in extracurricular activities, I am constantly reminded of the value of collective effort and shared success.
One of the highlights of my Yale experience has been playing with the Yale Graduate Rugby Team. The camaraderie, teamwork, and physical challenges on the field have provided a refreshing balance to the academic rigor of SOM. It's more than just a sport—it's a chance to connect with peers across Yale's schools, fostering collaboration and friendships that extend far beyond the pitch.
I am endlessly grateful for my fiancée, Elsa, who has been my anchor throughout this journey. With our close-knit network of friends in New Haven, she has made every milestone and challenge a shared celebration.

Fall has become my favorite season since moving to the U.S., and as we gradually transition into winter, I remain deeply grateful for the beauty it brought. During my first semester at Yale SOM, I had the privilege of meeting some truly incredible people, and I’m excited to continue breaking bread and creating lasting memories with them. I’m also thankful for the delicious meals at Charley’s Place, the countless caramelized iced chais and pumpkin tea bread slices from McNay Café, and the stunning architectural wonder of Evans Hall, which greets me each weekday morning.
Lorraine Gonzalez-Camastra ’25, EMBA
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of a community of builders and changemakers who inspire and challenge me to think and act with purpose. Being surrounded by individuals united by a shared mission to create meaningful impact has been both humbling and energizing. Engaging with such a wide range of perspectives has broadened my understanding and deepened my commitment to driving positive change.
The conversations I’ve had at SOM have illuminated the importance of diversity—not only in thought, but also in approach—when addressing the complex challenges we face today.
Through this experience, I have been reminded to continually challenge myself to optimize my potential in upholding purpose through my talents and abilities. It is by this example that I hope to inspire the next generation in my own home—my daughter—to live with purpose, always pressing forward with commitment, resolve, and gratitude.
Kena Halliburton ’25, Master’s in Public Education Management (TBM)
I am thankful for my experience at The Broad Center and the incredible cohort who inspire me along the way. It’s rare to be part of such a talented, mission-driven group of people all working toward the same goal of improving education. Learning from their experiences and being part of the SOM community has been an incredible privilege. As the holidays approach, I’m especially thankful for the opportunity to reconnect with my family, whose love and support have kept me grounded throughout this journey.
Maria Angelika Lattanzio ’25, Master’s in Global Business and Society (GBS)
I’m thankful for the moments that make each day here memorable: crisp walks through campus with autumn leaves underfoot, shared meals with friends (whether they were culinary successes or learning experiences), and unexpected conversations that spark new ideas and perspectives. I’m grateful for my classmates, whose support reminds me we’re in this together, especially during those late nights when recruitment burnout starts to creep in. I’m thankful for the nature that surrounds us and the rare blessing of sunny days this season. The curiosity and drive my professors inspire in me, and the surge of motivation I feel each time I walk into Evans Hall, remind me of the incredible privilege it is to learn here. I’m happy to have the chance to try something new almost every day.
I’m grateful for those who push me to be better and for the endless opportunities for debate and learning. As a GBS student (which means I’m a baby within the SOM community), I’m especially thankful for the mentorship of the MBAs, the career center, and all the school’s staff.
This year, I’m especially grateful for the chance to be part of a community that supports and challenges me to become a better thinker, leader, and friend. I’m grateful for the chance to grow, for friendships that feel like family, and for the sense of purpose that being here brings.
Vaneeda Murray ’25, TBM
I am incredibly thankful for being part of my cohort at The Broad Center. It has truly been a game-changing experience in my life. I am growing not only in knowledge, but also in confidence, and discovering new ways to navigate complex systems and lead with impact. Within this cohort, I have been surrounded by individuals who challenge and inspire me. I have immense gratitude for the opportunity to grow alongside such passionate and driven people. The lessons, relationships, and inspiration I’ve gained here will remain a cornerstone of my leadership journey for years to come. I am excited to see where this journey leads.
Erin Nusnbaum ’25, TBM
I’m so grateful to be part of a program and a cohort that accepts me for who I am while pushing me to grow as a person and a professional. The professors and support staff at SOM make this experience even more special. I’m thankful for the little moments: the walks to and from campus, the feeling of exhaustion after a long day of learning and laughing, and the hands-on experiences, like creating an artistic masterpiece while tackling academic challenges. Being surrounded by a group of people who are so diverse as individuals and yet united in their commitment to making a difference is truly a blessing. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a program with like-minded peers who share a vision for a brighter tomorrow and are here to become the changemakers for future generations.

Yale SOM is filled with opportunities and connections that have truly impacted my life. I am really thankful to my friends here at SOM, who have made my journey truly amazing. From attending Bollywood Night to participating in special Halloween events with them, the experiences have been unforgettable.
When I first arrived at SOM, I was unsure how I would fit in. However, I was totally amazed by how inclusive and welcoming the environment turned out to be. One of the highlights has been creating a student-led “chai group” that hosts chai parties. These small gatherings bring together people from different cultural backgrounds to enjoy authentic Indian chai and share a great time. It’s truly unbelievable how these small, simple moments can create lasting memories.
This Thanksgiving, I am filled with gratitude for the Yale SOM community and the friendships that have positively impacted my life. Thank you for making this journey truly meaningful!
Adam Tang ’25, MBA
I am most thankful for the friendships I have developed at Yale SOM through the various communities I am involved in, including my cohort, my clubs, and random pockets of friends made through overlapping interests. The support of my classmates has empowered me to take on new challenges, try new experiences (like hockey!), and be the best version of myself. I will be forever grateful to them!
Janitra Taylor ’25, EMBA
We should take time to be thankful every day, not just during special moments or seasons. For me, gratitude means appreciating the chance to meet my two Yale “brothers” at SOM. As an only child, I never knew what it was like to have siblings, but these two have filled that role in the best way—offering advice, endless laughs, and plenty of big brother-style teasing. They’ve become the family I didn’t know I needed, and I’m truly grateful that Yale has been a place where I’ve found not just opportunities but lifelong connections.
Yue Ying ’25, GBS
I'm grateful for all the people I’ve met at SOM and across the Yale community: the security guards I greet every day when entering Evans Hall; and the staff who keep our spaces clean and tidy; our distinguished and knowledgeable professors; the Career Development Office and the super nice and approachable Academic Affairs and Student Life team; and, finally, my lovely and supportive cohort. There are too many people that I want to be thankful for, and I feel so encouraged and supported every day!
